In order to write songs with trippy lyrics, you don't have to do trippy drugs, though many people may think so.

EditSteps

  1. 1
Do not plan out what the song will talk about, or what emotions it will contain and release.
  2. 2
When you think of something that makes sense to you, but will not make sense to others (eg. The deep sky beneath your feet, a breathing flame above your eyes) write it down. Do not say to yourself, "I'll remember that, I don't have to write it down."
  3. 3
For two minutes, write down every word that pops into you head. Try to make these words into lyrics.
  4. 4
Realize that songs can go from one emotion to an exactly opposite emotion. It might confuse the listener, but if you know what's going on, then write it.

Tips
Provide Details.
Please be as detailed as possible in your explanation. Don't worry about formatting! We'll take care of it. For example:
Don't say: Eat more fats.
Do say: Add fats with some nutritional value to the foods you already eat. Try olive oil, butter, avocado, and mayonnaise.

EditTips

  • It helps if you use two nouns together. If you use the first noun like it was an adjective it will be trippy. For example, "The mouth trampolines drifted under the apricot whales"
  • Don't always keep the same rhythm if you don't want. Do not simply follow the trends of modern music.
  • Sit by yourself in a quiet place when you put the final song together and declare it is finished.
  • If it is personal and you don't want others to help, then work on it by yourself. But usually other peoples inputs can greatly help. But DO NOT change something if you don't want to, no matter what someone else says.
  • If you're focusing mostly on lyrics, try listening to Syd Barrett or Neutral Milk Hotel for inspirations and ideas.
  • Borrow ideas from other works of art (songs, poems, paintings, sketches, etc.)
