How to Appreciate "The Simpsons"
Do all of your friends watch The Simpsons? Have you always wanted to watch it but never found the time? If so, read on.

1Decide whether or not you want to get into this show. Nobody is forcing you to watch it.Ad

2Get a Tivo or DVR. You can then watch The Simpsons at whatever time you please.

3Tape some episodes of The Simpsons on your new DVR.

4Start watching your first few episodes. Look out for commonly used catchphrases in the show (Doh!, Don't have a cow,man.) and identify the attributes of some of the main characters.

5Pay attention to the recurring minor characters (Squeaky Voiced Teen, Bone-haired man) that appear in many different places.

6Buy DVD's which contain some of the early episodes.Watch some of the new episodes. Think of the differences between the two eras of the show.

7Watch for parodies of other television shows, movies, etc. Notice scenes that may just seem weird, but not necessarily funny. This is probably a parody of something.

8See The Simpsons Movie. It is like one big episode. The movie is not for younger kids. (older and/or mature kids can see it without imitating a thing.)

9Impress your friends by using the catchphrases. acting like some of your favorite characters, and discussing episodes you have seen.Ad

- Buy Simpsons T-shirts and other Simpsons stuff. This will prove that you are a big Simpsons fan.
- Note that your focus should also be drawn to the lesser characters, such as Otto, to gain full appreciation.
- At the beginning, write out a cheat sheet of the characters' names matched with their major attributes so you don't get mixed up and confused about the episode's plot.
