EditSteps
-
1Install an operating system on an external drive. Always have advanced approval that the OS is available for distribution. (For Windows / Mac OSX you have to put the drive into a PC and install the operating system onto it this way) OR Clone a working computers OS drive onto this portable hard drive.
-
2Plug the drive into the computer and turn it on.
-
3When you turn on the PC then you will see the boot up logo/startup screen. Look towards the bottom and you will see something like "Press DEL for Setup, F12 to change boot order etc. You can A) Press F12 or whatever it says to show boot devices, or B) Enter the BIOS menu (usually by hitting DEL or an F key on boot up) and change the boot order to boot from USB Drive.
-
4Press F10, or go to the last option and highlight and click on "Save changes and exit" to boot into your new external OS.
