How to Create Hacker Proof Password
Two Parts:Creating Good PasswordsAvoiding Pitfalls
Most people have multiple passwords for e-mail accounts, social networking sites, online banking, site memberships, forums and so on. With so many passwords people may think it is easier to simply use the same password, or to use passwords that are easy to remember such their phone number or a relative's name. But passwords are the first line of defense against cyber crime. You should make sure you have strong passwords for all accounts on Internet. It’s very crucial to pick strong password!
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Creating Good Passwords
-
1Consider length. Passwords should be eight or more characters in length. The longer the password, the harder it is to crack.Ad
-
2Include a combination of characters. Use a combination of uppercase alphabets {ABC.. }, lowercase alphabets {abc..}, number {123…} and symbols { !&@^|.. }. Using all four types of characters works the best. For example instead of using 'welcome' as your password use 'W3Lc0mE^9'.
-
3Include randomization. Use special characters and uppercase letters and numbers randomly not just in starting or ending like "pcj@bGq12" instead of "Pcjbgq@12". But do keep in mind you have to be able to remember it!
-
4Use an acronym. Generate a password as a acronym from a phrase of your choice such as "Earth is the 3rd planet of solar system" and use the initial of each word like "Eit3pss" Acronyms are easy to remember and difficult to guess.
-
5Reverse your choice. By reversing, a simple password can be made hard to crack like “erolagnab" in place of "Bangalore".
-
6Use alternative characters. Use alternative for some letters like 3 for e, $ for s, 0 for o, @ for a, ! for i, etc. .
-
7Pick letters based on their keyboard location - like drawing. You can select letters and other characters by planning a shape on the keyboard layout - for example, typing out "cft6yhnji9" seems like you're drawing an N on keyboard. Throw in some random caps to really lock it down.
Part 2 of 2: Avoiding Pitfalls
-
1Avoid common or personal information. Avoid using common information like your birthday, crush's name, phone number, address which is known to all the people who are close to you.
-
2Avoid meaningful words. Don't use proper or meaningful words or simply speaking - dictionary words since they are easy to crack down using a dictionary attack. Rather use password comprised of random meaningless characters like 'TableHaz2eyes'.
-
3Don't use patterns. Never make password comprising a pattern like QWERTY or ABCD or 789 at all. They're just to easy to guess and even a baby can hack to your account if he/she just swaps his hands on the keyboard and presses 'Enter'.Ad
