1Lets face it. Society has a messed up view on homeschoolers. They are considered religious freaks and hermits. Believe what you want. If you are homeschooled though or are about to homeschool a child, then do not believe anything negative. Politely listen to their opinions, but do not take the negative ones to heart.Ad

2Remind yourself that it is for the better. Many homeschoolers are more prepared for college than kids that are educated differently. More and more colleges and universities are opening up their doors to homeschoolers. Your child will get better college prep if they buckle down.
-
3Keep in mind these key points:
- Avoidance. Your child will avoid the majority of the bad things that are in public schools. Bullying, drugs, and peer pressure are just a few.
- Freedom. As for being a "hermit", this can be avoided by letting your child do fun things outside of your house. Take as many breaks as your schedule will permit and have some fun. Homeschool isn't as rigorous as it sounds for some kids.
- Extracurricular. Believe it or not, there are sports for homeschoolers, as well as proms, homecomings, and conventions. Not only will your child be academically improved, but they will also be socially comfortable!

EditTips
- Let your child voice his/her opinions on homeschooling.
- If your child is leaving a public school to be homeschooled, expect some changes in feelings. Your child may not want to be homeschooled, or miss his friends. You can help this by showing your child just how important it is to you AND his future, and arranging time for them to spend with friends.
EditWarnings
- Do not think you are better than anybody else just because you are homeschooled/homeschooling a child. This is the #1 reason why most people do not associate with homeschoolers, because they are surrounded by a arrogant feeling.
