How to Memorize a Presentation Fast and Deliver It Without Notes
Take command of the room! You can easily memorize your next presentation or speech quickly and deliver without notes using proven memory training techniques.
Steps
Figure out how long your speech will be and write your outline. Your speech will typically begin and end with an Introduction (tell what you are about to tell them) and Conclusion (tell them what you told them), and the points in between are the main points you are communicating. For fun, the points on your presentation can spell a word. Your key word could be something like POWER (Prospects + Opportunity + Winning Presentations + Efficiency = ROI).
Not only does this make your presentation interesting, it will also help you recall your points more easily! Now let's go a step further!
-
1Divide your time up among your points. (i.e. a 30 minute presentation with 10 points will give you about 3 minutes per point)Ad
-
2Create a one or two word trigger for each point/section of your speech.
-
3Create a picture that represents that word or phrase. See each picture in your head in great detail.
-
4You are now going to tap into your childish, creative, free thinking side of your brain. Do not resist this, as this is going to save you a lot of time and energy and will ensure that you will not lose your place in your presentation- even when delivering it without the use of any notes.
-
5Use your imagination to "glue" each picture to parts of your body. I will give them to you in order. You are going to attach your picture to a body part using your creative side.
-
6Glue your picture for point one (introduction) on your toes. So imagine for instance two tiny people shaking hands, jumping up and down on your feet.
-
7Glue your picture for point 2 on your knees. (Let's say point two was about "business growth". Maybe your trigger word is simply "Growth". The picture you created is a growing tree. Imagine a tree is growing out of your knees. Feel it. See the color. Exaggerate features to make your pictures more memorable.
-
8Glue picture for point 3 on your thighs. 4 on your rear. 5 on your ribs.
-
9Review the first five places on your body and the picture you glued there. Review them in order and out of order a few times. This should take just a minute or two.
-
10Glue point 6 to your left shoulder.
-
11Glue point 7 to your right collar bone.
-
12Glue point 8 to your face. Nine to the top of your head. And 10 to the ceiling above you.
-
13You now have 10 pictures on ten places. Toes, Knees, Thighs, Rear, Ribs, Shoulder, Collar Bone, Face, Top of your head, and The ceiling.
-
14Again review each place and picture in and out of order for 6-10. Then 1-10.
-
15You now have your presentation memorized. For additional help spend a few minutes practicing the transition sentences that end on section and start the next section. This will help you easily move from one point to the next.
-
16Now as you give your speech simply follow the points up your body from your toes to the ceiling and you are ready to go! You can relax, look people in the eye, take questions, and still know exactly where you are in your speech!Ad
