1Watch for the intent look, as if she's musing about something. If Grandma looks super-focused, that's a sign of a trick coming up her sleeve. Be on extra alert for her tricky moves.Ad
-
2If Granny looks bored and reluctant to play, something is going on in that deeply knowledgeable brain of hers. She's playing for time and possibly hoping you won't notice she's just done something foolish with her cards or move and wants you to make your move without checking hers.
-
3When Granny looks like she is in a deep zone, start having some fun. Have a conversation, talk about the things that irritate her (cooking, expired food, etc.). Do this in the hope that you'll distract her from her thinking strategy.
- To get her distracted, make noises (chew your gum loudly, play with a nearby pencil, etc.)
- Ask awkward questions about the opposite sex. This might be enough to cause her to lose her trail of thought, out of surprise.

4Aim to win before Granny gets to the finish. You can just hope she's feeling generous toward you today.Ad
