How to Find a Reputable Dentist
As with any profession, some dentists are better than others. It can be difficult to know where to start when you move to a new area. Dental practice websites may list services and opening times but may have little information about individual dentists. So here are some tips to help you choose someone you can trust.

-
1Ask around. Word of mouth is always a good place to start. It will be helpful to know if family, friends or colleagues have had good experiences with a particular dentist. A word of warning though, the friendliest dentist in the world isn't necessarily the one with the best technical skills.
-
2Look for testimonials. Many dentists place testimonials on their websites. Now showing testimonials doesn't mean a dentist isn't good, but may just mean they have never got round to collecting them. However, if the dentist proudly displays lots of testimonials it will help you get a feel for that dentist and is a good place to start.
-
3Look for before and after photos. Even if you're aren't planning to have cosmetic dental work, before and after photos are a good chance for a dentist to display their technical skills. Not many dentists have photos of their work available and a dentist who is confident enough in their work to display a high quality photo on their website, that you may then see on your large PC screen, is likely to be one who takes pride in their technical skills.
-
4Look to social media. Increasingly business are marketed through social media and with online reviews. See what is being said online about the dentist you are considering going to see.
-
5Check qualifications. Any dentist will almost certainly have the necessary qualifications to practice in their country such as the General Dental Council UK, but do they have any postgraduate qualifications. Such further training is a sign of commitment to developing skills.
