How to Create a Cheap Helmet
Helmets have been a form of head protection for ages, and this article explains how to make a cheap and simple one. Don't forget to read warnings below.
EditSteps
-
1Measure the circumference of your head, be sure to make it slightly larger than your head. I'll explain why later. Measure the height of your head next, measure the length and width of the area from your forehead to the base of your nose, then add 2 inches (5.1 cm) to that length.Ad
-
2Buy a sheet of plywood in the circumference dimensions, and buy your nose dimensions in plywood. You'll need a large sheet of cardboard, as wide as your head's length and long enough to circle halfway around your head.
-
3Use the saw to cut out the circle of plywood, then nail on the strap to fit your head.
-
4Take the cardboard and nail it along the side of the plywood, it should fit look kind of like a bucket without one side at this point.
-
5Take the nose piece and saw it two inches down.
-
6Sand off the nose piece until they form a ninety degree angle (lessen the angle or add more to fit your needs). Then glue them together and let them dry.
-
7Once dry, nail on to the front/middle of the head piece, now you should have a helmet!Ad

EditWarnings
- Be sure to use proper safety equipment also.
- Don't cut yourself using the saw or any other sharp material.
- Please don't hit yourself on the head on purpose; this helmet is made to hold up on minimal to no damage! It can't hold up on crashes and drops, so please use a real helmet when there are these possibilities!
