How to Develop Your Sense of Style
Two Methods:ShoppingYour Wardrobe
Okay, so you've got the basics. You know what you like and dislike and you have loads of cool things in your wardrobe. But what is your sense of style? This article will help you develop your likes and dislikes so that you can determine what your sense of style is.
EditSteps
EditMethod 1 of 2: Shopping
-
1Finding what you like. This step is if you have no idea what you like. Go to your favourite stores and browse around. If you like something try it on, look for things to match it. Make sure whatever you try on you love, and want to wear it over and over! If you like something and buy it, it's different because later on you won't wear it as much. So if you love it you can't go wrong!Ad

2Body shape. When you find something you like, be sure to try it on first. Don't buy it and try it on later. If you do decide to buy this piece of clothing then it needs to fit perfectly. People come in all shapes and sizes and if the item you want to buy is perfect, it must fit you properly.
-
3Invest. Invest in a few key items that you love. Maybe it's a leather jacket, some perfectly fitting skinny jeans or some cute boots!
-
4Remember the image you're trying to achieve. When you're out shopping sometimes you get a bit carried away so keep in mind the style you want and look for pieces of clothing that fit in with that criteria.
EditMethod 2 of 2: Your Wardrobe
-
1Out with the old and in with the new. Everything you dislike in your wardrobe, throw out! Make sure you have something to wear though...
-
2Lay out all your clothes on your bed. Look at all the possible combinations of clothing and see if it's a particular style (e.g. bohemian, rock chick, girly girl, etc...) If it is then you're sorted! You've got a complete wardrobe of your style. If it isn't look at the next step...
-
3Write a list. Write down all the things that you need to develop your sense of style into what you want it to be. When you next go shopping see if you can buy some items that fit in with the list and criteria and that you really love!Ad
