How to Distress Denim
An easy to follow and very effective guide on turning your simple jeans or denim shorts into a distressed masterpiece.
EditSteps
-
1Wash your denim jeans or shorts before distressing them to ensure the material is clear from unwanted excess dirt.Ad
-
2Take a pair of sharp scissors (get an adults help if you aren't sure how to use the scissors in this manner), and vigorously scrape the denim wherever you want the distressed look to appear. It takes quite a while.
-
3Holes should be appearing now. Alternatively, you could place the denim over a sharp point and use sandpaper to scrape it down, leaving a hole which shouldn't fray.
-
4Scrape along the ends of the denim to add a tassel look to the hem, where the material will start fraying (after being placed in the washing machine).
