EditSteps
-
1First, when you get on check your stirrups, because if they are to short it can stop you from putting your legs back.
-
2Then ask someone like an instructor or a friend to watch you.
-
3Go around at walk trying to keep your legs back and if they come forward the person watching will tell you.
-
4Once you are good at walk try at trot and maybe over poles if you are confident.
-
5If you can, try it in canter, maybe, if it is easier, get someone to lead you round so you can focus on your legs.
EditTips
- If you are in a lesson with other people, while you are waiting try and put your legs back in a comfortable position.
- If it is still not working maybe talk to someone about new boots or putting longer stirrups on the saddle to make it easier to keep your legs back.
EditWarnings
- Riding has always got the risk of falling off, so wear an approved riding helmet and a body protector if needed.
- If nobody is leading you try to not forget about everything else, if your legs are ok try and work on any other thing you need to improve on.
EditThings You'll Need
- A good horse/pony
- A good saddle and stirrups
- A person to watch
- A hat and if necessary a body protector.
