How to Keep Rabbit Bottles from Freezing
Do you have an outdoor rabbit? Does his/her water bottle freeze during the winter time? This article will show you how to fix this problem!
EditSteps
-
1Fill the water bottle with warm water. Do not use super hot water. Depending on the temperature outside, you may still need to refill the bottle with warm water a few times a day.Ad
-
2Place the water bottle near a heat lamp (if you have one for your rabbit). The heat surrounding the lamp will help the bottle from freezing.
-
3Put a thick woolen sock around the bottle. Make sure that you check regularly to make sure that the water isn't freezing.
- You can always wrap the bottle with bubble wrap to help insulate the bottle.
-
4Purchase a heated water bottle. This is the best investment for outdoor rabbits that are living in cold climates.
- Make sure that you have an electrical outlet to plug the heated water bottle into.
- Make sure the rabbit's cannot get to the cord and chew it.
-
5Move your rabbit's hutch or cage into a shed or garage (temporarily) to help keep your rabbits warmer and to help keep bottles from freezing.
-
6Use a water dish rather than a bottle and place a ping pong ball in it. The ping pong ball will prevent the water from freezing over. One of the benefits of using a water dish is that the water doesn't freeze up as fast.Ad
