Have you ever dreamed of being an asset to your community, just hanging out with friends, or finding something to do over the summer? Want to make new friends, do something to be proud of or take your expierences further? Well, you've made the right choice reading this article, because joing the Girl Guides is a great way to do all these things, nevermind the other stuff you will get up to at Guides. So now, your problem is how to join.
EditSteps
-
1Find a Girl Guide group near you. It is much easier to have one near you rather than having to travel. It doesn't matter what group you join as everyone will be welcoming and fun.Ad
-
2Try out the first few sessions. Most of sessions are every week, such as every Thursday. Get to know some people, it helps if a friend from school is there too but this is not neccessary. Don't get a uniform just yet; make sure you enjoy it first or it will just be a waste of money!
-
3Make friends! There's no point in going if you don't have any friends there, so make sure you talk to people. Guides is a great place to make friends because it is easier to make friends while doing new activities, which you will partake in a lot of, since Guides is about new experiences.
-
4Get your uniform. Now you can get your uniform because you know it won't be a waste of money. It can be purchased at a uniform shop or online and ranges from about £7-£30 (roughly) per item - see below for more.
-
5Get your badges and maybe even a guide blanket. Ask your leader about doing an interest badge at home if you don't do any in your meetings. You can sew them anywhere, on a scrap of cloth to a guide blanket, although most Guides sew theirs on their guide t-shirt or hoodie.
-
6Grow into a good girl guide. As you grow older, you will be trusted with more respnsibilty and jobs, such as loooking after new guides or helping out before a meeting. Furthermore, you will be more likely to b allowed to go on camps, holidays and expeditions. These are great ways to have fun with your troop as most of the places you will stay offer a wide range of activities, like climbing, kayaking, orienteering etc, or just the challenges of living on a camp site will be good.See below for websites with more information.
-
7Carry out your duties outside the meeting and continue perhaps into senior section. Study your promise to show the real purpose of guiding and perform as you are expected.

8Relax and enjoy it!!Ad
