How to Conduct Process Capability Studies
Edited by Jack Herrick, James Quirk, Ben Rubenstein, Sondra C and 3 others
Process capability studies are an important tool for quality control. This type of study is an important part of statistical quality control (SPC). By using this method, we can find out how much any specimens are deviating from the specifications.
EditSteps
-
1Select a candidate for the process capability study.Ad
-
2Understand the process parameters well, so that you are comfortable with the process and you know the critical parameter for the process.
-
3Check the upper and lower specification limits for the critical parameter.
-
4Calculate the value of process capability indices (which are CP and CPK). If the value of this is one, the specimens are just within the specification limits. If the value is less than one, it means that some parts are not following the specifications. If the value is greater than one, they are following the specifications well.Ad
