Most gym users are not fully aware of the dangers of gym germs, especially MRSA (Staph infection). Gyms can be dirty places - with all those people using them, and all that sweat pouring over the equipment, gyms are the ideal breeding ground for bacteria and germs. This doesn't mean you need to stop working out, but taking a few precautions will protect you from getting sick.

  • Keep your hands away from your mouth at all times.
  • Barrier protection is crucial! There are personal sanitary handle covers for gym equipment. They wrap around the handles of almost any equipment (secured with Velcro) and eliminate direct skin-to-surface contact.
  • There are some excellent products available that provide protection against germs.
  • Always properly wash your hands after any workout.
