How to Be a Metal Chick
Metal is a genre that is almost entirely dominated by men. Listening to metal for women is a lot different than for most guys out there.

1Listen to metal music some bands are Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio, Dokken. Black Metal would be Gorgoroth, Marduk, Satyricon, Mayhem, etc. Melodic, Folk, or Power Metal bands you might like would be Eluveitie, Finntroll, Ensiferum, Helloween, Iced Earth, Hammerfall, Amon Amarth, or God Dethroned. Recommendations for heavy/ brutal bands are Death, Nile, Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Devourment, or Skinless. Go to their concerts! Don't waste your money on the ones you don't like though because you will seem like a poser.Ad

2Get a haircut that suits you. Your hair can be either red, blonde or black you can tease it as long as you don't look 'scene kid' but a mullet type hairstyle which is a quite old style from the 80s. Most metal chicks have long hair! So grow out your hair or have corn rows.
-
3Get some clothes, leather pants and jackets, ripped shirts but not too crappy and band shirts! Your shoes can be heeled boots, platform heels, and flats but it depends on the style of your flats.
-
4Get some metal friends you might know it by the length of a guys hair their usually long hair but you can't always determine a style by that start hanging out with the people you might have thought were weird when you were younger that listened to the hard rock music like Bon Jovi, Motley Crue etc.
-
5Be yourself always. Don't act like a wannabe you should know your stuff and which music you like in metal depends on you, you shouldn't listen to stuff you don't like to make yourself seem cool because more than likely the ones you don't like you won't want to find out info about them and people will think your fake.
-
6Get a instrument like a guitar or drum or your voice. If you are a better sing than a instrument player do that. Guitars can vary like bass, and electric you should get a cool design if you have the money for a wicked awesome one. And for drums just make sure it isn't a kid drum set.
-
7Start a band. Get your friends who know how to play instruments or sing the instruments should be guitar, drum and piano in a metal band. Come up with unique lyrics something that inspires me is Black Sabbath.Ad

EditTips
- Don't be afraid to own up to loving metal music, even if you think that others will think badly of you. You could be a heavily religious girl, but liking metal does not make you 'bad'. Enjoy it, weave it into your life, but don't be ashamed.and always be dedicated to the metal scene and let nobody talk you down!!.
- Get a very large music library. Some people aren't going to believe you that you listen to a lot of metal, and it's helpful to know a lot of music. Check out every genre, even if you think you won't like it.
- ALSO: The comment on "feminists probably won't like -these- forms of metal:" that is utter bilge, and a completely narrow-minded understanding of feminism(s). One can be feminist and still love and enjoy death metal.
- If you're reading this article in any serious light, then chances are you're not "authentically" metal. If one is metal, then you just are. You shouldn't need a how-to guide to achieve whatever perception of "being metal" is out there. Furthermore, any differentiation of the sexes is ludicrous; whether one is a male or female metalhead is irrelevant; you're just a metalhead. You don't guy park your car, you don't chick park your car, you park your effing car. You don't listen to guy/chick metal you listen to effing metal.
- At concerts, never wear revealing clothing, low cut shirts, short skirts (acceptable with tights or boots) or anything that could easily turn into a Janet Jackson-esque wardrobe malfunction. Let's leave the revealing clothes for hip hop fans.
- Don't feel the need to conform to a certain look. It's ultimately the music not the face of it.
- Be aware that a lot of people view nu-metal, Metalcore, and Deathcore as not being metal. Don't expect people to think of you as a metal head if all you listen to is nu-metal, Metalcore, and/or Deathcore. You should also be prepared to be called a poser, particularly by Death Metal fans, if you listen to Gothic Metal.
- Metal is not about APPEARANCE. It is about the appreciation of the music, whatever genre it is that appeals to you.
- AND NOW FOR SOME REAL AND ARTICULATE THOUGHT:
- Keep in mind that unless it's a Gothic Metal band, most of the audience will be male.
EditWarnings
- At concerts, particularly in mosh pits, there may be people who want to cop a feel. If someone awkwardly stands near you and you feel uncomfortable, stand on the other side of some big guy. If someone gets close to you or feels you up, just yell at him. Chances are that he'll get beaten up immediately. Metal is a community, and if you're being harassed, you can count on people to stick up for you.
- A lot of people will find it very weird that you listen to metal. It will seem even weirder if those people have a different picture of who you are in their heads, such as the good girl, the religious girl, the smart girl, etc. and then learn that you're into metal. Don't bring it up in every conversation you have with people. If you're talking about music, don't be afraid to mention it, and definitely don't lie or just avoid the subject, but it's not necessary to talk about it all the time.
- If you're a feminist, or are otherwise offended by misogynistic lyrics, you will be offended by a lot of Death Metal, Grindcore, Goregrind, and especially pornogrind lyrical content.
