  2. 2
Click the Edit Article link on the top right of the article. You can also edit the article by scrolling over the EDIT section on the green toolbar at the top of the page and clicking the first option (which should say Edit this Article).
  3. 3
Scroll down to the "Options" section at the bottom and check the Things You'll Need checkbox.
  4. 4
Scroll up until you see the Things You'll Need section.  Add the list of non-food items by adding an asterisk and the item (e.g. *Item Name). After you add your items, click the Add button or press enter.
  5. 5
Type your edit summary (optional). A suitable edit summary when you do this could be "Adding the Things You'll Need section.".
  6. 6
Check (☑) the checkbox that says "This is a minor edit." (optional). This is only if you did a small edit (like only adding 1 or 2 things to the list).
  7. 7
Preview the edit to make sure it correctly appears in the article. (optional)
  8. 8
Click on the the Publish button.

Method 2 of 2: Advanced Editor

  1. 1
Open the article in Edit mode. If you're not on Advanced editor, switch to it via the "Switch to Advanced editor" link just below the title in the Guided editor window.
  2. 2
Scroll down till you are just above the "Related wikiHows" section of the page. If it doesn't contain that section, you must create the new section as the very last section of the page.
    • If the page contains the MediaWiki magic word (parts or methods with underscores on both sides, make sure that you create the section above that section.
    • If the page contains a "Sources and Citations" section, make sure that this section can be added above that section.
  3. 3
Type the first line == Things You'll Need === and press Enter to advance to the next line.
  4. 4
Type an asterisk followed by two spaces.
  5. 5
Begin typing your first item from the list.
  6. 6
Repeat adding items on subsequent lines.
  7. 7
Give the editor one additional empty space (where no asterisk can be seen).
  8. 8
Type an edit summary like "adding Things You'll Need" or "+ Things You'll Need".
  9. 9
Check (☑) the minor edit checkbox. This is only if you just did a small contribution to the page.
  10. 10
Preview the edit to make sure it correctly appears in the article (optional). This can be done by pressing the Preview button.
  11. 11
Publish the edit once everything looks good.

Tips
Provide Details.
Please be as detailed as possible in your explanation. Don't worry about formatting! We'll take care of it. For example:
Don't say: Eat more fats.
Do say: Add fats with some nutritional value to the foods you already eat. Try olive oil, butter, avocado, and mayonnaise.

Tips

  • Make sure the words you add to the list are grammatically correct (no spelling mistakes, capitalized properly, etc.).
  • Do not include food and drinks in this section. Instead, add it to the "Ingredients" section (located at the top of the article).
