Adding an image to a wikiHow article enhances its presentation and helps others to learn. Images that are freely licensed can be found at Flickr and Wikimedia Commons. Adding these images to a wikiHow article is easy!

    Create an account and log in to wikiHow. Only registered editors are allowed to import images.

    Read wikiHow's Image Copyright and Image Deletion policies.

    Navigate to the article you want to add the image to. Click on the Edit link.

    Click the button/icon to open the Easy Image Uploader.
    • In the Guided Editor, you'll find it under the section where you want to add the image.

    Select the step that you want to add the picture to. This step only applies to the Guided Editor.

    Search for freely licensed photos on Flickr and Wikimedia. You can try in one or both tabs. You can also adjust your search terms and click "Search" again to find relevant images.

    Select Preview if desired. This will let you take a closer look at a given image in your search results.

    Click Insert once you find an image you want. You can click this from the Preview screen or directly from the search results.

    Click on Insert File. You can also adjust the sizing and placement somewhat, but the placement of large or landscape images will be automatic.
    • For smaller, portrait-oriented images that are right-aligned, you can adjust size/placement and add a caption. For images in substeps, you can also make adjustments using these options.
    • Licensing information will be added automatically.

    Click on Done to return to the Edit page of your article.

    Adjust the image code further, if desired. You may want to change the alignment or size more after you've previewed the page and finished editing.
