Ravelry is an online community of people who love to work with yarn. Spinner, weavers, dyers, knitters, and crocheters use this free site as a place to share ideas and patterns. People can submit patterns as free downloads or sell their pattern PDFs there. Getting involved will mean finding your own yarn-ing family!
EditSteps
-
1Go to the Ravelry website and get a username and password so you can log into the site.
-
2Log on to Ravelry and go to the "my notebook" tab. Click on "contributions" from the pull-down menu.
- Once you click this, you must choose the "add a pattern that you designed" option. Choose this option for both free and for sale patterns.
-
3Check the search option to see if your pattern name is already in use or has been added by someone else.
-
4Choose and enter a designer name for yourself.
- This can be your first and last or first and middle name, but it needs to be a realistic name.
- Choose your designer name carefully since all your designs will be listed under this name on Ravelry.
-
5Enter as much detailed information as possible about your pattern.
-
6Click on the "save" button at the bottom of the page--this is very important.
-
7Add photos of your pattern.
- When you click "save," you will be directed to the pattern page. Simply click on the photo tab there to add photos of your pattern.
-
8Add additional patterns by going to your designer page and clicking on "manage store."
-
9Agree to the "Terms of Use and Pricing."
- You have to do this to proceed even if you are offering a pattern for free (even though the terms of this agreement will not apply to free downloads).
-
10Click "add pattern."
-
11Upload and save your file.
-
12Activate the product by clicking on the "Activate Product" button.
- You must activate it in order to allow other Ravelry users to have access to the pattern.
