How do charity shops relate to random acts of kindness? It's great to donate and shop there, and I do both with alarming frequency, but I don't think it counts as a random act of kindness. We're really helping ourselves when we get rid of excess clutter or buy stuff on the cheap. I would suggest deleting that point, but what do others think?

Since there's been no objection, I deleted the tip about shopping at charity shops.

One of the tips says, "Send some treats to your local police or fire department". This is a nice thought, but having worked in law enforcement I can guarantee that any food sent that isn't factory sealed is going to go straight into the trash. Think about it, they have no idea who you are, no way to know what's been put into it. If you want to thank police or law enforcement, send flowers or a plant to the department. You can also write a letter to the chief explaining what nice thing was done for you. Everybody is ready to call and scream or write nasty letters when they're not happy. Almost nobody writes a letter or makes a call when somebody goes above and beyond. |

I think giving money to beggers is a random act of kindness. You have to concentrate on the fact that person is in need, and I have the ability to help a little. Sincere and simple. Asking why the begger got in that situation or what the begger will do with the money ruins the spirit of giving.

I believe that throwing bottles with messages in them is considered pollution. Is it not?
