This article will help you learn to mount a horse while using a treeless saddle. If you don't know what a treeless saddle is, you might want to search it online. It's kinda hard to explain!

EditSteps

  1. 1
Gather your reins. Usually people mount horses from their left side. Whichever side you decide to mount your horse on, you need to gather up your rein on that side. Remember, "Rein in the Mane". That always helps me remember!
  2. 2
Put your foot into the stirrup.
  3. 3
Reach your arm out to the opposite front side of the saddle. Almost like your arm is diagonal to the back part of the saddle.
  4. 4
Step up. Most people generally bounce a few times on the ground before they hop into the saddle. Most people do this to get enough momentum to swing themselves into the saddle. Others do this to test out the horse; also to see how the horse will react. Don't just use the stirrup for balance; use your arm on the opposite side of the saddle. If you just put your foot into the stirrup and hop into the saddle, it will most likely slide under your horse's belly. Even if the cinch is tight! It's a treeless saddle -- not a saddle with a tree!
  5. 5
Also, make sure when you swing yourself into the saddle, to lay your body vertically when you're mounting. This way it will distribute the weight evenly so the saddle doesn't slide!
