If you are stuck in a situation where you can't access the Internet because of firewall settings, a browser that isn't working or some other catastrophe, it's still possible to do some Internet tasks. As long as you have an email address that you can access and a working connection to the Internet, you can stay in touch with your favorite sites and use some Internet based tools. Using email instead of a browser also helps to simplify the tasks of posting information to your online accounts.     Sign up for an account with web2mail.com. Web2Mail allows you to retrieve and send POP email for free, as well as give you some access to the Internet via email. Members can request a search of the Internet and have search results sent to an email address. To do this, send an email to Web2Mail, with the subject "search" followed by item you want to search for. Members can have full web pages sent to their email by sending a request to Web2Mail. They can subscribe to a service and have updated web pages sent to email on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

    Blog from your email account. Blogger and WordPress blogs allow posts by email. In WordPress, this option is available from the Settings menu and the Writing choice. In Blogger, the option is under Settings and the category Email & Mobile.

    Read PDF documents even if you don't have access to an online PDF viewer. Send PDF files to pdf2txt at adobe.com. The document will be sent to your email address as a text file.

    Add photos to your Flickr account. This service is for existing Flickr members only. The address to use is the name of your account, followed by photos.flickr.com. The image title is the subject line and the description is the email body.
