How to Get More Thumbed Up Edits on wikiHow
Whether you're a new wikiHowian or a veteran, it's always a good feeling getting a thumbed up edit. You can raise your "thumb up" rate by writing great edits and inviting feedback on them.
EditSteps
-
1Evaluate what you're going to edit. Think if the article actually needs improvement. Here's what you're need to look out for: coherence (does this article actually make sense? Is the grammar, spelling, and punctuation correct? Can you read it with ease?), utility (how can you apply this in real life? Is it helpful and simple?), and style (is the article interesting and entertaining to read?) If the answer is "yes" to all of these questions, you need not edit a thing.Ad

2Think of how some things can be rephrased. Sometimes sentences may be better if written in a different way, for example: "Put nail polish on the nails you want to paint" can sound better as "Apply nail polish to the desired nails".
-
3Know when enough's enough. You shouldn't drastically alter the entire article, but improve it. It should have the same message as it had before, just with some extra details and tweaked sentences.Ad

EditTips
- Try to help out articles that are going to be taken down for some reason, there's a higher likelihood that the original author will appreciate it and thumb up your edit for being so considerate.
- Try not to make sentences personalized or referral to yourself, and keep it in a general perspective and in imperative speech. Instead of "I did this and it helped me a bit better" you could say "Trying this could possibly help the/your situation further."
EditWarnings
- Don't add in offensive content, you could risk getting your account blocked.
