How to Get Rid of Moth Larvae in a Carpet
Moth Larvae ruins carpets. Small white rice-like cocoons enjoy feasting on household fabric. Moths lay these eggs in dry areas, so carpet is an ideal breeding ground for moth larvae. While it may not be possible to save your carpet after they've eaten their way through, there are ways to minimise moth damage in 3 simple steps.
EditSteps
-
1Vacuum the area thoroughly. Continue to vacuum until you are confident your carpet is free of these little eggs.Ad
-
2Hold your vacuum nozzle in the air and continue to draw in any stubborn excess larvae.
-
3Throw your vacuum bag out immediately.
-
4Pour boiling water over the area - it is unlikely these cocoons will survive boiling water.
-
5Use a wet-dry vacuum to soap the area. While this is not an essential step, it is highly recommended to clean the area and then draw the soap out.
-
6Your worn carpet can be painted back to normal. Mix together paints that reflect the colour of your carpet and dab it on to give the impression of a textured carpet.Ad
