Want to keep a record of where you've eaten? Many smartphone apps can be used to create a dining timeline with photos, location details, and notes to help you remember your meals and reminisce the experiences. This article will show you how to use Urbanspoon and Instagram to make your own dining timeline.

EditMethod 1 of 2: Urbanspoon

    Launch Urbanspoon on your smartphone. Tap on the menu icon, scroll down to the "My Urbanspoon" section, and then tap "Dineline."

    You will be presented with an introduction to Dineline. Tap "Get Started."

    Search for the name of the restaurant you last ate at and would like to add to your Dineline. Tap on it to select it.

    You'll be presented with your choice and the date and meal you ate there. Tap "change" to change any of the details. Tap "Add more information" to add additional notes and the amount spent.

    When you are finished, tap "Check In" to save your information to your user profile. If you don't already have a Dineline account, you will be prompted to create one.

    Download the Instagram app for your smartphone and create an account.

    Open the Instagram app from your smartphone. Tap the center button to upload a photo from your photo album. Find a photo in your photo album from your last meal, food, or restaurant experience. If you don't have a picture, take one the next time you'd like to save something to your dining timeline.

    Choose the photo for your dining timeline. Scale and crop it as desired. Note that Instagram requires all pictures shared to be square.

    Select a filter to edit your photo if desired. Explore other optional features in the row of horizontal buttons above the filter options. You can add a frame (preset for each filter), circular or rectangular blur, illumination, or rotation.

    Decide on a standard format for the caption of your dining timeline entries. For example, you could write the date, location, restaurant name: 04.25.2013 | San Francisco, CA | flour + water. You could also write an additional sentence about your meal or what's in the photo.
    • Tap "Add to Photo Map" and tap "Select Location" to identify the restaurant.

    • Tap on the social media buttons if you'd like to share this post to your other accounts as well.

    Tap "Done" or "Share" in the top-right corner. Your photo will be uploaded to your account, and you can tap "Profile" to browse your entire dining timeline.
