China Unicom: Using LTE on iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c
Starting with the release of iOS 8 on September 17, 2014, you can update certain models of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c to iOS 8 to enable 4G LTE for China Unicom. To start using 4G LTE, you won't need a new SIM card, but you may need to update your data plan. Contact your carrier for details.
To see if your iPhone is compatible, check the model number. It's on the back of the iPhone, under the word "iPhone".
Only these models will support 4G LTE for China Unicom, with an update:
- iPhone 5s (Model A1530)
- iPhone 5c (Model A1529)
These models aren't available for use on China Unicom's 4G LTE network:
- iPhone 5s (Model A1528): Will continue to use China Unicom's 2G and 3G networks
- iPhone 5c (Model A1526): Will continue to use China Unicom's 2G and 3G networks
- iPhone 5s (Model A1518): Can connect to China Unicom's 2G network
- iPhone 5c (Model A1516): Can connect to China Unicom's 2G network
- iPhone 5s (Model A1533): Not compatible with China Unicom
- iPhone 5c (Model A1532): Not compatible with China Unicom
