Discussion:Make a USB Bootable

Removing title template. This article is about making a flash drive bootable, not booting from one.

Updated: Have to run the cmd as administrator, otherwise you can get the 'access denied' error on bootsect.exe.

This did not work for me, nor has it ever, using NTFS for the file system. fat32 was always necessary to make a bootable USB in my experience, though I must admit I am probably doing something incorrectly.

you can't make bootable usb using command in xp it is like it doesn't support list disk

why still use command? i made bootable win xp by simply using win2flash

after typing d: cd boot when type cd boot it shows "system cannot find path specified" what could be the possible reason?

I need a method how to create a bootable usb drive of MAC os X in windows Thanx.....!

on the process 1 after formating, making drive bootable is missing. formatting just make it format not the bootable

Please view to include using RUFUS method, it is simple and easy to use.....

This article was SO well worded & detailed. The problem I've run into on every forum I look at is that experienced "techies" know they're stuff inside & out but are TERRIBLE at explaining things. The Article is Awesome.All the method are quite good but i thought it can be updated because there some new tools available like "Rufus" and "Win Usb Maker " those are doing really good job and they don't have any kind of Restriction like Microsoft Usb tool have so It is better if the 2nd method can be Edit or replace with some more advance and more Easy to use for Usb making Rufus:http://rufus.akeo.ie/ Win Usb Maker :http://joshcellsoftwares.com/products/zotacwinusbmaker/

The method using for making an ultimate boot cd boot system involves downloading UBCD. Avg detects viruses in this download. I would not fool with it.
