This is a guide to moving stored files in and out of cloud storage providers and private servers using Mover.io. It will cover setting up the services, the different providers available, and how to run transfers.
EditSteps
EditMethod 1 of 23: Create or Log In to your Mover account
-
1Enter your information or create a new account to access Mover's transfer services (upper right on Mover's homepage).Ad
-
2Click on "New Transfer" in the upper left. This takes you to Mover's transfer wizard - essentially the home base for setting up your transfers. It will look like this:
-
3"Select Source" is your source storage (ie where your files are moving FROM) and "Select Destination" is your destination storage (ie where your files are moving TO). The middle is for transferring or setting up transfer schedules.
-
4When adding a source or destination, you will be presented with a list of 'Connectors' that will look like this:
-
5Click on the Connector you wish to use, and see below for details on adding each specific Connector. 'NOTE: Once you add a Connector, Mover will remember it so you won't have to add it again for future transfers.
EditMethod 2 of 23: Amazon S3
-
1To add Amazon S3 as either a source or a destination, you will have to provide your information to Mover:
-
2For your access keys, you will want to go to your "Access Credentials" section on your AWS Account Management page and view your Access Key ID and your Secret Access Key.
-
3You will now be able to see your Amazon S3 buckets on the transfer wizard. Note: Mover cannot create S3 buckets, they must be created through AWS prior to transferring.

EditMethod 21 of 23: Managing Files
-
1Once you have a source and destination connector set up, make sure you are sending the right files to the right folders!
-
2For the most part, any files that you are seeing underneath your source will be moved, and they will be sent to whichever folder you specify on the destination (Some connectors will let you create a folder in Mover's transfer wizard).
EditMethod 22 of 23: Scheduling
-
1You have the option to transfer your files right now (with or without archiving), or you can schedule automated and/or incremental transfers:
-
2Transfer now is usually for one-time transfers between accounts. Scheduling transfers is usually for backing up files or synchronizing files across platforms.
-
3Set your schedule to transfer files hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. Check 'Incremental' for transfers that only move new or altered files. Review your schedules on the "Schedules" tab at the top!
EditMethod 23 of 23: Transferring
-
1Once you have your connectors set up (with or without a schedule), start transferring! A transfer confirmation box will appear. In the below example, we will be transferring our 'mover-example' folder in Amazon S3 into our 'Test' folder in Dropbox.
-
2Once you have your transfers set, you can review them under the "Activity" tab at the top. This shows a log of your transfers and their statuses.
-
3Click on a transfer log for a detailed review of the transfer.
-
4That's the basics for moving your files around! For additional resources, Mover has more information on its support page.Ad

EditTips
- Be patient if moving a ton of files, as very large transfers can take several hours.
- Make sure you have enough storage space for your transfers! Eg moving 10GB of data into an account that's only covered for 5GB will not work.
EditThings You Need
- A mover.io account
- Readily available information for the storage sites you wish to use.
