How to Create a Scoop Level Using Masking Tape

For a quick way to ensure you achieve the exact measurement every time you bake, use a small strip of masking tape to smooth the tops of measuring spoons.

    Open ingredient package. Before you apply your tape level, you will need to make sure your ingredient package is completely open and ready.

    Apply a strip of masking tape over one side of the package. Allow enough room for your measuring spoon to retrieve ingredients from the package.
    • Make sure you anchor the tape on each side of the package so it is securing in place.
    • Apply tape with sticky side facing down or toward the ingredient.

    Dip measuring spoon into the ingredient, retrieve a large scoop and then drag the top of your spoon across the bottom of the tape. This will help you to achieve a level scoop.
