Bond as a human being? Who'd'a'thunk?
Roger Ebert
Casino Royale has the answers to all my complaints about the 45-year-old James Bond series, and some I hadn't even thought of.
David Edelstein
I hope Craig finds more moments like that in Bond. And I hope he gets to wear that tuxedo again and again and again.
Andrew Sarris
I consider Daniel Craig to be the most effective and appealing of the six actors who have played 007, and that includes even Sean Connery.
Joshua Rothkopf
Craig is also the best Bond in the franchise's history.
Joe Williams
Daniel Craig is a fair-haired, bare-knuckle antidote to Pierce Brosnan. On the action-adventure level, it hits the bulls-eye.

A Blonde Bomb Cubby is turning in his grave and Ian is out and hunting the crazies who seem never to have actually read the novels. Not only is the look of the actor a blasphemy against the novels there is nothing suave about the portrayal. It reminds me of the title of another movie by Craig "Flashbacks of a Fool" - what was Barb Broccoli thinking about when she had the likes of Clive in the wings. 'Nuff Said.

One of the best Bonds to date As a huge Bond fan I was looking for a Bond that took its self a little more serious. This movie completes that wish and keeps the charm that makes Bond, Bond. Daniel Craig acting is great and he delivers on the action. But the best part of this movie is seeing a young Bond learning what it means to be a 007. A must watch
Great Bond film. Casino Royal was a great Bond film. It was better than 1967's Casino Royal. Action packed & keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Wow, they managed to do it When they said this movie would "reinvent" the Bond franchise they weren't kidding. Truth be told, it's just a great movie that happens to be Bond's origin story. They've "reinvented" Bond plenty of times before, this is just another new version of him. Still, expertly crafted, great acting, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Back to Fleming I've been a Bond fan for 30 years and have read all the original Fleming novels. This is Bond at his essence a man on the edge, loyal to country who gets by not on his gadgets but on his resourcefulness and will. He is cold because he has to be but he is human. Craig captures that so well as we see Bond in his first case a story that brings the Fleming Bond to life.
This is a HIT !! Loving James Bond since the very first one. But, to make it from a T.V. show and put it into today's theme?....... Pure 007 !!
Good balance. This bond film had a good balance of action, romance and plot. Definitely one of my favorites in the bond series.
Excellent! James Bond is not indestructible anymore, and is not carrying stupid gadgets, well done by the creators of this movie, finally, a lot closer to reality, much much better than the original.
Saved The Franchise! One if the best of all time. Eva Green was homely though.
Superb Bond movie This one is definitely a superlative Bond experience. Daniel Craig plays Bond quite well in this the beginning of the Bond story line.
Evolution of Bond Best Bond of them all. Watching the evolution from a street thug to Bond ... James Bond ... is a neat twist. Well done!
