How to Be a Strong Parent and Stand up for Truth
Too often we think being kind is allowing people to get away with stuff. Could it be that down deep we all know right from wrong and actually respect someone when they bust us on our crap? Maybe there is a part of us that welcomes truth when we hear it. It is as if we get so lost in deceit that having someone be strong and saying you can't get away with this is a breath of fresh air. It is a hand guiding you back to reality and to the person you once were when you were a child.
EditSteps
-
1Stop and think what the person is saying to you. Does it make any sense or is it a manipulation to make you feel guilty? Remember that guilt is a big red stop sign that warns you someone is trying to manipulate you.Ad
-
2Have a solid list of values and ethics. If you are religious it could be the 10 commandments. If you are not, maybe it’s not breaking laws that you use to guide your life. Use you should not steal as an example. If you see someone stealing you understand that this is not morally or legally right. Then you do not go along with it for any reason.
-
3Have the courage to walk away. This takes strength. Make you motto, “I will not go along with behaviors that go against my ethics”. Many people in jail today could have been spared from being an accomplice had they done this. Have the courage to not be a partner in crime.
-
4Stand up for what you believe no matter the cost. Maybe it will cost you a job, a marriage, a friend, or even a family member. You need to worry about being true to yourself. Can you live with yourself if you break the ethics you believe in?
-
5Believe in yourself even if everyone you know says you are all wet. If you know what you believe is true and right, do not budge from it one inch.
-
6Wait for truth to be revealed. You may have to wait a long time but sooner or later the truth will be known.
-
7Wait quietly, the less noise you make the sooner truth is revealed. This is because you are not a distraction from what is taking place. Deception is like a car wreck. Everyone looks at the victim, the one making all the noise and crying. So they don’t notice how the accident happened. You need to keep quiet.
-
8Sit back and watch the show. People will start seeing the truth themselves. In time it will be revealed and you will be the only one left standing.
-
9Stand on a solid foundation. Not breaking laws protects you from going to jail, or losing your job and everything else you value. A wise father once told his daughter, “You cannot con an honest man.” Usually someone who is coned is looking to get something for nothing and that is how they get in trouble.Ad
