Steps

    In order to scan a barcode, choose scan from the main menu. It will then say "ready to scan" and the scan port will become active for ten seconds. Then, slide the scanner across a barcode. If you see a small upside down "v" on the screen, it means you didn't scan the barcode properly. A flat line means there is no life in the barcode. However if you see a large upside down "v", it means you have successfully scanned one of four things:
    • DSM- direct scan monster. A monster that wants to join your tribe.
    • BSM- Battle scan monster. A monster that does not want to join your tribe. You'll have to battle these monsters.
    • GSM- Grudge scan monster. A monster that you have banished wants to fight you.
    • Item- Something your monster can use in battle.

    If it is a grudge scan monster or a battle scan monster, you will have to fight no matter what, so you better choose your strongest monsters.

    If a monster decides to join you, accept them, but be warned! They are usually weak.
