disclaimer: i do not have a sugarloot account, nor am i some popularity-crazed dip. a friend of mine was wondering about this, so i wrote the article. i am aware that it is a tad bit shallow. sorry :]

Unfortunately, Sugarloot.com no longer exists. The site was a place for voting up your friends and voting down your enemies for fabulous prizes. Post your pictures and let people vote on who has the best hair, the cutest pet, the prettiest eyes, or the like. If your pic is voted the highest, you could win an iPod, a camera, camping gear, a CD signed by the band, and such. Prizes varied and were unique and also usually related to each contest. However, the site had been bogged down by voting practices that bordered on spamming techniques. The users who voted their honest opinion were eventually eclipsed by the users who swapped "a 10 vote for a 10 vote"; basically, a 'you vote for me and I'll vote for you' situation, for those of you who never visited the site. Frustrated users began to abandon the site, some just disappearing, some leaving rants and scathing reviews in their profiles, myself included. The last contest was posted around January or February 2010. With no new contests posted and user traffic declining due to frustrated users, the site has now closed down. Now, any attempt to visit the Sugarloot site results in a redirect to Teen.com.
