EditMethod 1 of 4: warm up

  1. 1
Make sure you have your team warm up correctly. Without a proper warm up, injuries may occur. Warm ups should start with a light jog for around two minutes up and down the basketball court. Slowly increase the intensity of the jog as the players get warmer.
  2. 2
Start with some dynamic stretching. This could include; leg swings, lunges, sumo squats, hamstring pulls
  3. 3
have players who may have individual injuries complete static stretches that may help them warm up further

EditMethod 2 of 4: Ball skills

  1. 1
start with each player dribbling the ball, alternating hands. Make sure the ball is kept low and fast.
  2. 2
pair up players and complete passing drills. These could include chest passing, overhead and bounce passes

EditMethod 3 of 4: Shooting drills

  1. 1
using one hand, stand infront of the basketball hoop and practice shooting straight. As shots improve, move further out and add the other hand.
  2. 2
Complete contested shooting; have a player pass the ball to another player at the freethrow line. The shooting player should try and execute a good shot under pressure to practice game pressure.

EditMethod 4 of 4: Game play

  1. 1
practice game situations by first having 1v1, then 1v2, then 2v2 and slowly build it up to 5v5.
