Ambassador presents 2010 Youth Ambassadors

Today, U.S. Ambassador, Liliana Ayalde, made the official presentation of the 12 young Paraguayan that will be traveling to the United States under the 2010 Youth Ambassadors Program. The event was held at the Ambassador’s residence where Ambassador Ayalde and representatives of the Paraguay Kansas Committee addressed the audience and handed out certificates to the final candidates of the Youth Ambassador program. In addition, the 2010 Youth Ambassadors did various artistic performances.
This year the Youth Ambassadors will be traveling in two different groups; the first group in the last days of March and the second group in September. The 2010 Youth Ambassadors are: Liz Natalia Rojas Pérez (from Presidente Franco), María Paz Aranda Gómez (from Ciudad del Este), Krish Gissela Caballero Vázquez (from Ciudad del Este), Oscar Manuel Villar Mareco (from Ciudad del Este), Juan Fulgencio Welko Mendoza (from Pedro Juan Caballero), Jorge José Brítez Aveiro (from Asunción), Marcelo Manuel Miranda Monges (from Asunción), María Fernanda Pereira Maidana (from Fernando de la Mora), Bianca Magalí Benítez Montiel (from Villarrica), María Virginia Matiauda Schneider (from Encarnación), Ángel Ismael Invernizzi Cabrera (from Paraguarí) y Ever Daniel Valdéz Leguizamón (from Quiindy).
These Youth Ambassadors were selected from among 150 other applicants from across the country. All of them are between the ages of 15 and 18. All of the finalist have excellent school grades, possess leadership skills, are committed to improving their communities, can speak and understand English, and come from families with limited financial resources.
This program has included Paraguay for the past four years. Therefore, new entrants will be joining a network of 25 young Paraguayan who have already participated in the program. Upon their return to Paraguay, each of the Youth Ambassadors will have the opportunity to perform community service projects and provide motivational talks to other groups of young people.
