U.S. Presidential Delegation

President Obama has appointed the Secretary of Energy, the Deputy United States Trade Representative, and Under Secretary for International Trade, as personal representatives to attend the Paraguayan Presidential inauguration ceremony. The Honorable Ernest Moniz, Secretary of Energy, will lead the delegation.
This U.S. delegation complements the emphasis of President Cartes in improving trade and investment, infrastructure improvements, and in poverty reduction. U.S. Ambassador, James H. Thessin, will also be a member of the U.S. Presidential delegation.
United States values its strong relationship with Paraguay and is committed to promoting common interests. The United States hopes to continue its cooperation to advance the issues of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, and in efforts with dealing with corruption, terrorism and poverty.
