Ambassador Thessin and President Lugo in Concepcion

At President Lugo’s invitation, Ambassador Thessin accompanied the President and several members of his cabinet as well as senior police and military leadership to Concepcion on October 18, 2011.  While there they met with members of the joint military and police task force working to ensure public security in the area.  They were joined by the Governors of Concepcion and San Pedro.  The Ambassador’s presence reflected long-standing U.S. Government support for the Paraguayan Government’s Northern Zone Initiative, an effort to enhance the provision of government services, economic opportunity, and police presence in Paraguay’s northern zone Departments.
