About TangramCOM

TangramCOM is a DCOM on Linux.

TangramCOM  provides an object-based, distributed, programming model allowing two or more applications, or application components, to easily ‘cooperate’.With TangramCOM, you can write a application service quickly,and access it from another thread or process transparently.

This project is start at 2008 to help programmers creating application services on Linux mobile phone,example: Telephony , GPS , Bluetooth ,etc .It protect us from packing and unpacking parameters of hundreds of API function, one by one, or you must put those service in kernel module,That's terrible, with low efficient. 


Relations to DCOM
  • DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) is a proprietary Microsoft technology for communication among software components distributed across networked computers.
  • TangramCOM is not a complete DCOM,but just only implements  a subset feature enough for support out-process communication. 
  • TangramCOM is compatible with DCOM in source code level,and can run on Windows and Linux.

Relations to Wine
Wine  provides a translation layer (a program loader) capable of running Windows applications on Linux and other POSIX compatible operating systems.
The most important kernel of TangramCOM, the DCOM implement and the IDL compiler, is separated  from Wine ,with a little modify.
