I agree with Ben. Cut the drywall away from where they are anchoring this new floor. I hope they used floor joists 16" on center too. Didn't see the rest of this but love the concept. Great way to add space.

Why cut the dry wall?? That gives you three finished walls! The only wall you would be enclosing would be the end opposite the windows. You would only have to cut a doorway through the existing dry wall to gain access to the space.

I like the idea but it was framed over top of the dry wall... Why not cut the dry wall? Then you know for sure that you are hitting studs/joints and not running a lag through a hot wire in empty space.
