SYMPTOMS

When you set the ConnectOnRequestedInterfaceOnly registry entry to 1 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP, you may receive a Stop error message that resembles the following:

STOP 0x000000D1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of an error in the Netbt.sys file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, set the value of the ConnectOnRequestedInterfaceOnly registry entry to 0. To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\netbt\Parameters
In the details pane, double-click ConnectOnRequestedInterfaceOnly.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
