How to Add a Link Button to the Home Screen of an iPhone
Two Methods:For iOS 7 and 8For iOS 6 and before
Do you own an iPhone or iPod touch? Did you know there is a way to add a Safari mobile page to the Home screen page, so that this page is similar to the style of an iPhone app? Well, there is. You'll find the steps described below, in this article.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: For iOS 7 and 8
-
1Open up the Safari app on your iOS device.Ad
-
2Navigate to the website you want to create a shortcut for.
-
3Tap on the "Share" icon at the bottom. This looks like a square with an arrow pointing upwards.
-
4Select the "Add to Home Screen" icon.
-
5Give your Link Button a name.
-
6Tap on the word "Add" in the upper right hand corner.
-
7Look for this link button on your Home screen.
Method 2 of 2: For iOS 6 and before
-
1Open the website in your Safari browser. No other browsers on an iPhone offer this feature.
-
2Make sure the page has been completely loaded.
-
3Press the center button on the touch-screen. It looks like a box with an arrow popping out of it. This is the same option you would press to add a bookmark to your iPhone.
-
4Tap the "Add to Home Screen" button.
-
5Edit the title, on the page that results. This will become the text at the bottom of the home-screen that holds the "app" on the home screen.
-
6Press the "Add" button that is found at the top of the screen that results.Ad

Tips
- Mobile versions of pages that are meant strictly for the iPhone will also offer a nicer looking button than that of those that offer just their PC-version page. These PC-paged bookmarks will shown as a tiny view of the page you've saved at the time of originally adding. The ones that offer the mobile versions will show as a nice graphical button that features the company logo.
- On iOS6 and above, when you decide to place it, the button will show you a preview of the button you'll be placing, shortly before adding it to the Home Screen.
- You can also do this on the iPad and the iPod Touch.
- If you open Safari using a link button in iOS 6, the address bar and bottom (back/forward button will become missing), so keep this in mind. This is not the case for iOS 7.
Things You'll Need
- Safari browser on iPhone/iPod/iPad/iOS device.
- any linked page that you want access again towards in the future.
