How to Change Which Notifications Display on Facebook
If you are an avid Facebook user, you may often get notifications from different sources: game invitations, group posts, and friends liking or commenting on your posts. If you find your notifications seem to be cluttered, here's a way to organize them.
EditSteps
-
1Open your web browser.Ad
-
2Visit the Facebook webpage.
-
3Click the gear icon from the top right corner of the screen.
-
4Click the “Account Settings” option from the drop-down list.
-
5Locate the tab for your Notifications settings. The tab will be named “Notifications” and will be located on near the left center of the screen.
-
6Click the “Notifications” link.
-
7Locate the section of the page you’d like to get Notifications for. You are limited to “Activity about you”, “Close Friends Activities”, “Group Posts” and “Notifications from apps”.
- Also realize that you can adjust how your notifications will be delivered. Your choices are “On Facebook” (there are no settings-and will be set to all notifications), “Email” (where you can choose between many different choices of popular notifications) and “Push notifications”, a special type of notification that certain smartphones (such as Android and iPhone operating systems) can correctly interpret. This choice is also limited to a default reminder to fix your settings directly on the phone of your choice.
-
8Click the “Edit” or “View” button that exists to the right of the choice you’d like to edit/view. If there are other choices on what notifications you’ll be able to send out, there will be a checkbox to the left of the item.
-
9Click the checkbox to the right of the item, for the notification, to turn on the notification of the item, or, for notifications where turning on the notification is needed, click the “Turn on” link to the right of the item.
-
10Click the “Close” button, to save your work.Ad
