How to Get Email Notifications of Edits to Your Published Articles on wikiHow
Sometimes, people want to see when their article is edited. If that describes your article and your personality, this article will help you get these email notifications.
EditSteps
-
1Visit and sign into the wikiHow website in your web browser. To see these notifications when publishing, you need to have a non-anonymous (non-IP) account.Ad
-
2Make sure you have supplied a valid working email address in your account. You could have supplied this address when you signed up, but since the email address was optional, some users don't feel prudent to type one in. On the main Preferences page, the text box entry for "E-mail (Optional):" will give you this same box again. It must be filled in with something, to receive your notifications.
- Scroll all the way down, and click the "Save" button.
-
3Create and publish a new article, following all the policies.
-
4Visit the AuthorEmailNotification page, if the box containing the special option, doesn't show after publishing.
- It can be found in the link to "Manage article notifications" in your My Preferences page under the default tab that comes up underneath the "Email" heading. [1]
-
5Click the checkbox to the left of the article you'd like to see the "notifications of changes" (called a "diff") for.
-
6Scroll down to the bottom, or, if you have so many that the list is tremendous and goes below the bottom of the page, press ^ Ctrl+⇲ End (⌥ Option+⇲ End on an Apple). Then, click the "Save" button.
- Wait a few seconds for the site to catch up to you.

EditTips
-
You can even have, within your preferences, have each article you publish new, shown to you in your Special:Watchlist. You'll find the option to add newly-created articles on the Watchlist tab of Special:Preferences (the option called "Add pages I create to my Watchlist". Visit your watchlist daily, to see if pages have had changes.
- Remember to click the "Save" button when finished on the Preferences page.
- Make it apparent that you check the Special:AuthorEmailNotification page often. It doesn't cost you anything to check. You may have missed a few along the way that you may want to go back and ensure the article is checked. It only takes a few extra seconds of your time, but that's minute, when you compare this to any other editing time you tend to do.
EditWarnings
- Sometimes, despite you clicking the checkbox, the webpage sometimes displays the page as if the checkbox wasn't clicked. Refresh your page. They should later show as checked.
