    Scroll down the page, as you read through previous reviews.

    Click the "Compliment" button on the right side of the review (above the review) you'd like to compliment, when you see a review you like to thank the writer for writing.

    Choose your Compliment type from the icons above the text box on the resulting in-page pop-up.Your choices are: Thank You, Good Writer, Just a Note, Write More, Great Photo, You're Funny, Cute Pic, Hot Stuff, Like Your Profile, You're Cool, and Great Lists.

    Type a personalized message. Unlike what it was prior to an update to their system, you must now type your own message into the box below the compliment type.

Tips

  • Each compliment has it's own compliment icon. Try to learn them all, when you begin to send compliments to authors.
  • Every action you try to take on Yelp (messaging, creating a review, etc.) has an "out" feature, in case you intentionally do not want to send the message (before actually sending/publishing the message. To cancel sending the compliment, click the complimenting option once more.
  • First time writers of written words in the business community section, please be sure to read the Talk page guidelines before submitting any talk page messages to the site.
  • You can find the exact types of compliments you've received on your full-Yelp profile page. The Yelp homepage, once you've signed in, will display just the total number of compliments you've received, and it will also tell you when you receive a new compliment.
  • At any time after selecting the compliment type, you may remove the default compliment and type your own.

Warnings

  • You cannot send a compliment to yourself on your own reviews. That is totally impractical to do, and is not something they developed into the system, so you'll know you've stumbled upon one of your own reviews, when you read the business page and see one without the compliment button.
