If your HomePatrol is more than 1 month old, there is a strong possibility that the device is already outdated in its master database. If you'd like to bring it up to code into the newest version, this article should be for you. Follow from Step 1 below, to ensure it has the most recent information available.

    Install and open the HomePatrol Sentinel software.

    Backup your device using Sentinel, to ensure no avoided channels and any settings are re-scanned the next time the item is turned on after the update.
    • Bring your device to nearby and plug it into your computer. For your computer to see your device, you'll need to turn it on. When you plug it in, it'll turn off, so you'll manually need to turn it on.
    • Go back to your program and write this data to your device. Choose the HomePatrol menu at the top of the Sentinel screen and Read to HomePatrol.
    • Choose your HomePatrol device from the drop-down and select the OK button.

    Look down at the bottom left corner of the screen. You'll see the date the database was last updated on your computer. Uniden tries to update their servers at least once every month (later in the month).

    Update the Master HomePatrol database in the software. Open the Updates menu at the top of the software screen and choose "Update Master HPDB".

    Have Sentinel write this new database to the Uniden HomePatrol device.

    • Go back to your program and write this data to your device. Choose the HomePatrol menu at the top of the Sentinel screen and Write to HomePatrol.

Tips

  • The database is updated more-often than the device's firmware for most HomePatrol devices. Therefore, you shouldn't need to check the firmware too often. If you do check it, don't worry if it says there's no new firmware available.
  • The HomePatrol database uses data available from Broadcastify (formerly called Radio Reference), which is super-accurate. Assuming you know just where to look on the Broadcastify site, you'll find this information available there.
    • Uniden, despite the change, still calls Broadcastify by it's former name. Recognize that RadioReference was the old name of the site. Uniden is adamant that the name hasn't changed yet.
  • Make sure you update the master database to your HomePatrol the moment you open the box and turn on the device, to ensure the database is the most current one available.
