Grape & Fennel Salad

Here’s the thing… if you’re a friend or family member of mine you probably already know that I will blatantly rip off any recipe you make for me and reproduce it here on the blog. It’s a house-rule like no fighting or clean up after yourself, I will steal your culinary ideas and share… Read more »

Big happenings this week at Chic Headquarters! As I type, our office is filled with odds and ends and crafts and cake stands and all the accessories that will adorn Melody’s wedding this Saturday!! We all know weddings can be overwhelming, and when produced by me and Mel, for the latter it can reach… Read more »

Peanut Butter and Jelly Waffles

I’ve seen a few recipes for peanut butter and jelly waffles and just had to try and figure out my own version. Originally I planned on including a waffle recipe from scratch and then I remembered that I have 3 kids and I don’t have time to shower let alone make waffles from scratch, so… Read more »

Harissa Shrimp with Cilantro Garlic Yogurt Sauce

If you watch any amount of the Food Network, you’ve probably heard of harissa.ย  I believe I first heard of it on an episode of “Chopped,” where as I recall it was part of a basket that included Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, a quail egg, and a handful of Vicodin … or did I dream that?… Read more »

Green Bean & Bacon Salad

Don’t let it being low-maintenance fool you though, it’s flavorful and crunchy and big hit at every barbecue you’re likely to attend. I love using buttermilk… Read more »

Kitchen Tool Wall Art

Last year Dave’s Auntie Di gave me a box of Nana’s kitchen stuff. They were deep in the midst of cleaning out the treasures Nana had accumulated over the years and were unsure of what to do with a big box of vintage spoons, and spatulas and whisks and whatnot. It was decided I might… Read more »

About The Chic

Back in 2004 when I was looking to name my events company, I stumbled across the word 'Chic' in an old dictionary. The definition was: โ€œa fashionable lifestyle, ideology, or pursuitโ€. I fell in love with the word and the idea that chic is the pursuit of something better, prettier, or cooler than you are today. Chic isnโ€™t a state of being or even a destination, chic is the journey you take on the way to something greater. ~Rachel

Question: From RJ in Los Angeles Hi Rachel! We had a gathering last night where quite a few kids (mostly toddlers) showed up with their parents. My husband and I are childless, but love kids and aren’t afraid of messes/things breaking, etc. But, one of the mothers made a comment about “another friend of hers… Read more »
