Cilantro and Lime Wild Rice

Are you a Chipotle fan like I am? I don’t mean the smoked pepper, I mean the restaurant where you can buy a burrito the size of a small dog. Are family is a huge fan, and we typically end up there most Sunday’s after church. My favorite part, by far, is there cilantro rice… Read more »

Coolhaus Sweet Corn & Blueberry Ice Cream

If you can remember back that far, then you know I did a Cooking Lesson with my pals at Coolhaus once before. If you’re not one of those readers that commits my every word to memory, then you can check it out HERE. Typically I don’t do repeat lessons, but when I heard that Coolhaus… Read more »

Pear With Me

I realize this isn’t necessarily the most summery of crafts, but you know that old saying about when life hands you paper mache pears, right?  Make something with them right away no matter what month it is?  I can’t remember who originally said that… but  I have this empty bowl in the middle of the… Read more »

Mango Jerk Chicken Skewers

The other day I decided (in a rare, nesting-moment of pure adrenaline) to clean out my freezer. While deep in the bowels of that frozen tundra I found a few wayward popsicles, a corkcicle I keep forgetting to use and small bag of frozen mango leftover from the last time I made carnitas. Texas Sheet Cake

I know I say a lot of things are my favorites, but this recipe really is! I remember when my mom would make this when I was growing up. I could walk in the house and sniff the distinct scent of the chocolate and cinnamon and know exactly what my siblings and I were in… Read more »

4th of July Fruit Salad

I was put in charge of fruit salad for this year’s family 4th of July barbecue… I think my mother in law was trying to give me something relatively easy since I’m currently the size of a single family home and can’t be on my feet for too long. Rather than go with the… Read more »

About The Chic

Back in 2004 when I was looking to name my events company, I stumbled across the word 'Chic' in an old dictionary. The definition was: “a fashionable lifestyle, ideology, or pursuit”. I fell in love with the word and the idea that chic is the pursuit of something better, prettier, or cooler than you are today. Chic isn’t a state of being or even a destination, chic is the journey you take on the way to something greater. ~Rachel

Rachel's Latest Answer

Question: From RJ in Los Angeles Hi Rachel! We had a gathering last night where quite a few kids (mostly toddlers) showed up with their parents. My husband and I are childless, but love kids and aren’t afraid of messes/things breaking, etc. But, one of the mothers made a comment about “another friend of hers… Read more »
