How to Bypass Microsoft Account Password to Log on Windows 8/8.1 Using PCUnlocker

Forgot your Microsoft account password and can't log on your computer? Microsoft account (also known as a Windows Live ID ) is a new sign-in option available in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. If you have forgotten your password, you can visit the Microsoft’s website and reset your password online. But if that doesn't help, you'll lose access to all files on the system. In this situation, you need to use PCUnlocker.

The following tutorial will walk you through the procedure to log into your Windows 8/8.1 computer if you have forgotten your Microsoft account password.

    Create A Boot CD or USB Drive. To get started, you need to use another working PC to download PCUnlocker ISO image and save it on the desktop. Burn the ISO image to your CD or USB drive using Rufus, ISO2Disc or your favorite burning program.

    Boot from CD/USB. Connect the CD or USB drive to the computer you want to bypass the passwords of. To set computer to boot from CD or USB drive, one simple way is that press the boot menu key while powering on the computer and then select the CD or USB drive as boot drive. Another way is that press the BIOS key while powering on the computer and access to the BIOS to set the CD or USB drive as the first boot option.

    Locate User Account. After the booting procedure is complete, PCUnlocker will start and it displays a list of local accounts that are detected from the SAM registry file on your local system.

    Bypass Microsoft Account Password. Choose the local account associated with your Microsoft account, and click on "Reset Password" button. Confirm your operation and the program will replace the cached password hash of your Microsoft account with the new password: Password123.

    Reboot Computer. Click on "Restart" button and remove the CD or USB drive. When you get to Windows 8 login screen, you can log on the system with your Microsoft account and the new password.

  • Most Windows 8 computers have new safety and protection mechanisms and new BIOS (UEFI), that make this process a little harder. To boot from a CD or USB drive, you might need to disable UEFI and Secure Boot options and enable Legacy support.
