How to Understand an Aussie Rules Line Score
A line score is a method of scoring in Australian football. Australian football, known as football, footy and sometimes scrum, is a sport unique to Australia that differs from versions of football in other parts of the world. Australian football can be defined as a hybrid of European football and rugby. It is far more physical and requires greater stamina than traditional football.

Steps
-
1Find some friends who are running a match of football and join in the game. The best way to learn anything is by doing, and by playing firsthand you can gain a greater understanding of how the rules work and how you can bend them. Just be careful that your friends are honest, because there are those that would take advantage of a newcomer to the game.
-
2If your friends don't understand the rules of football, or if they just scammed you a few to many times, you may want to hold a refresher course. Get your friends together over some beer and watch a few matches on television, or go out to a stadium match. Local collectives are always holding skirmish matches and those can be a great opportunity to see a variety of play as well as numerous bouts of rule breaking, which can be educational in its own right.
-
3Read a book. If firsthand and secondhand play has not built your knowledge of the rules of football, try going to a library or bookstore and locating a book that contains the printed word. The AFL's rulebook is also made available to the public, but you have to write them for it. Australian football actually has more rules than chess, but most of them are ignored. (i.e. Contestants are forbidden from drinking on a field of play. Like that ones going to be obeyed)
-
4Take part in a match. After building your knowledge of the game, put it to use. Play a match, or if it's not your thing, volunteer to referee a match. This will allow you to put your knowledge to use, reinforcing it like a math teacher does when they give you questions.
